FAQ

Where are you located?

I provide Telehealth online, so I do not have a physical office location.

How does online therapy work? Are we just going to be texting?

I use a HIPAA-compliant platform to protect your information. If you’ve ever used FaceTime, then you get the idea. I place the Telehealth call through HIPAA-compliant software, and we communicate through the screens of our devices.

See my Online Therapy page for more details.

What are your hours?
I am available all day and into the evening every day except for Fridays and Saturdays.

If you have high scheduling needs and you’re having a hard time finding someone that can work with you, let me know what you need. Part of the beauty of online therapy is that I can be more flexible.

How long are sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes.
How much do you charge?

Private pay is 175.00 for an initial intake. Payment options/discounts for follow-up appointments may be available for established clients. Payment is due at the time services are rendered.

You can pay by American Express, Health Savings Account card, Mastercard, or Visa.

I’ll ask you to fill out a “Credit Card Authorization” form that gives permission to charge your card for the services provided.

Do you accept insurance?
Clarion Telehealth Counseling accepts private pay and does not accept insurance, but you may be able to use your HSA to pay for telehealth psychotherapy services (confirm with your provider).
With whom do you work?
I work with all individuals (women and men) over 18.
What do you actually do in sessions with clients?

Important question! Therapy is a completely different experience depending on the therapist with whom you work.

I would say that the first session (or two) is mostly my trying to get a handle on who you are, what’s happening in your life, and how you got here. I ask a ton of questions; we get more comfortable with each other; and, by the end of the first session, I like to identify some things that it makes sense to both of us to explore in more depth.

After that, I will always start by asking you how your week has been. If you have something bothering you, we’ll explore that together conversationally, keeping in mind the reasons you came to me in the first place.

If it feels as though not much has happened that week… that’s great! We will go back to one of the major reasons you started coming and work on that together.

How do I get started?

To get started, all you need to do is call (469) 551-8419 or email me at clariontelehealthcounseling@outlook.com.

I offer a free 10-minute consultation, and we can set up your first appointment after that.

Can I cancel an appointment?

Yes, but I ask for a 24-hour notice if you can’t make your appointment time to not pay the price of the session.

Do I have to tell you everything? How long will this last?

Therapy takes as long as it takes. I don’t make predictions regarding treatment timelines. Every client is unique in their needs.

That being said, if it helps, we are a team; and we will look at what works, what doesn’t, and pivot as needed.

What is your professional training and experience?

I’ve spent a large amount of my career working with people who act out their pain with eating disorders, anxiety that turns into circular thinking (rumination), and unhealthy coping mechanisms for personal relationships.

As part of my 3000 clinical hours needed to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I worked with clients who spoke Spanish and needed a translator. I’ve been a fluent Spanish speaker for over 20 years and love providing therapy for my clients without translation services.

My continuing education this year has focused on evidenced based treatments for PTSD and anxiety as well as the impact of COVID-19 on mental health. Attachment theories, solution-focused therapy, and object relations theory continue to inform a great deal of my work and study, though I make it a point to draw from an eclectic approach to meet the needs of each client.

Should I wear waterproof mascara?

I welcome emotions here. I work with emotions to get to healing. Emotions actually help you get to the heart of things. So… it’s up to you about the mascara.

Cats or Dogs?

I love all animals and believe they are natural healers!

I am a huge believer in fostering animals and received my Presidential Gold Service Award for 500+ hours of volunteer work with abused and neglected dogs and cats at East Lake Veterinary Hospital in Dallas.
